New GRID3 Geospatial Data Releases from CIESIN Now Available

January 21, 2026

CIESIN, in support of GRID3, is pleased to announce the release of several new high-resolution geospatial datasets designed to support data-driven planning, service delivery, and humanitarian response.

New datasets for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) include updated layers for Health Facilities, Settlement Names, Health Zones, and Health Areas, providing critical administrative and service-delivery context across the country. These releases are complemented by new Roads and Friction Surfaces, enabling improved accessibility modeling and travel-time analysis.

In addition, new Roads and Friction Surface datasets for Nigeria are now available, supporting enhanced analyses of connectivity, access to services, and infrastructure planning.

These data releases strengthen the spatial data foundation needed for evidence-based decision-making across health, development, and humanitarian sectors.
