CIESIN director teaches course on climate vulnerability in India

CIESIN director Alex de Sherbinin was lead international instructor for a course on 'Climate Change Vulnerability, Migration and Displacement: The Growing Challenge and Potential Policy Responses" which took place in New Delhi, India, from 21-25 June. He co-taught the course with Prof. Atiqur Rahman of Jamia Millia Islamia University , one of the nation's oldest universities. Sponsored by the Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) of the Indian Ministry of Education, the course included participants at graduate and post-graduate levels from all over India, including many geographers, physical scientists, and geospatial practitioners. While in New Delhi, he also gave a presentation on behalf of the Mumbai Global Center at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIAU) for his webinar is part of the NIUA Expert Talks series. The series focuses on the theme of Sustainable Cities, specifically addressing city risk and vulnerability assessment, early warning and emergency response, and climate-proof infrastructure.
